The Challenge
Personal injury law firms and insurance carriers work in completely different software ecosystems. Precedent was building an AI-powered platform to bridge that divide — giving PI firms tools to draft stronger demand packages and anticipate adjuster tactics, while integrating with the case management systems attorneys already rely on.
The Process
I joined as lead product designer at an early stage, before much of the product existed. I started with research: working directly with attorneys and adjusters to understand how cases move through their hands, where bottlenecks live, and what each side needs to act with confidence. Those conversations shaped the information architecture and interaction patterns throughout the platform.
The Outcome
Precedent has since grown into a suite of tools — demand composition, claim setup, medical records retrieval, adjuster intelligence — used by over 100 law firms. One firm documented a 16% increase in settlements after adoption.
