The Challenge
Business Alliance Financial Services helps financial institutions grow their commercial lending portfolios — a space that's heavily regulated and deeply specialized. They needed an app to serve a range of users: underwriters navigating complex loan analysis, borrowers submitting documents, and institution staff managing the full lending lifecycle through their proprietary BLAST® platform.
The Process
I facilitated user interviews and stakeholder workshops to map the distinct needs of each audience. Because this was a greenfield product, I built the component library entirely from scratch — every pattern purpose-built for the complexity and compliance demands of commercial lending.
The Outcome
The BLAST® platform now guides loans from application through credit administration. BAFS reports a 50% improvement in application processing time and a 40% improvement in underwriting turnaround.
